Classic country meets French Provence. This stunning home was designed by Bruce Dickson from Down to Earth Architects. The clients were extremely particular about the style and finish that they wanted, which made this a dream house to build and finish. The home is built on a larger stand in Waterfall, with magnificent views of a greenbelt, with the river flowing through.
The house is designed to be used for magnificent entertainment, however, space remains intimate and functional for a family’s everyday use. The kitchen leads through the lounge and onto a marvelous patio. The patio overlooks the views of the pool, backdropped with the greenbelt, and the sounds of the water running through the river leave one feeling like they are in the bushveld. A library suits the clients’ book collection, whilst the playroom keeps the children happy through many hours of play.
Upstairs the family has 4 larger than normal bedrooms, each featuring a walk-in closet, and en-suite bathrooms. A private Pyjama Lounge also provides a space for the family to enjoy some time together, or simply unwind by watching the telly.
Solid Oak floors, fireplaces and large timber doors with ornate finishes simply tie the house in with the antique furniture and French Provence style.
Externally; the landscape was specifically designed to suit the style of the house. The front with a very formal and symmetrical layout provides a lovely space to sit and enjoy nature, and admire the plants. As you get towards the back, the style focuses on family living, providing a large lawned area for children to run around. The planting changes slightly from a formal set up to a more informal layout, thus blending the garden in with the greenbelt.
As the client was extremely particular about the style and finish, we had to use suppliers who could meet those requirements. Eurofit Kitchens provided all the cabinetry for the kitchen, built in cupboards, patio, vanities as well as the magnificent timber balustrade. RLWA were relied on again with their expertise in the Aluminium windows and doors, as well as all the internal timber doors. They were also called upon to supply and install the Oak flooring, a massive feature of this home. Victorian Bathrooms and Pools and Landscape by Nature made sure that the bathrooms and the outside areas complimented the style.
