The Homeshow was organised by Century Property Developments to provide various approved Waterfall Estate builders the platform to showcase their work. We were given 7 months to conceptualize, design, gain approval, build, finish and furnish a home. We didn’t have time to waste on this project, and when the concept drawings were sent to us for review, we immediately issued them to site for earthworks to begin.
Our show home had a south-facing entrance, allowing us to maximize on the north light. The kitchen, staff quarters, and garage was all functionally placed on the southern part of the stand, with the magnificent open plan kitchen, dining, lounge, enclosed patio, and informal lounge all perfectly placed on the north side.
The solid teak staircase went up to a mid-level guest room, which also doubled up as a private studio or study. Further up the stairs, a gallery landing leads you into the 3 very large bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms and walk-in closets. High, double volume ceilings, coupled with high-level windows brought magnificent light into the house during the day, whilst cleverly spaced lights and bulkheads provided suitable lighting at night.
The home featured state of the art home automation for audio, visual, and lighting. A central aircon system throughout the entire house. A central vacuum system, as well as exclusive light fittings, not yet seen in South Africa at the time.
